(Ἥλιος in Ancient Greek) was formerly the god of the sun, until he faded. Apollo took on the duty of solar deity after him. The death of his demigod son Phaëton was a major factor is this, as he had loved him very much. He was the son of Hyperion and Theia, and brother of Selene, the moon, and Eos, the dawn.
